About the Foundation
Experience, understanding and hope.
The Freedom Room Foundation exists to help people affected by alcohol addiction access support and build a life in recovery.
Why we exist
Reaching out can come after years of struggling or trying to manage alone. Cost, circumstances and finding the right kind of help can make the next step difficult.
We provide free resources, help programme graduates stay connected when they cannot afford maintenance membership, and contribute towards the cost of the 12-week recovery programme. We are also raising funds to introduce free meetings, free counselling and free ongoing aftercare for all clients who complete the 12-week programme.
Meet Rachel
Rachel Acres founded The Freedom Room in 2021, bringing together her lived experience and professional work as an alcohol and other drug counsellor and recovery coach.
With more than 14 years of continuous sobriety, Rachel understands that recovery involves much more than putting down a drink. It means learning to manage emotions, rebuild relationships, ask for help and face everyday life.
Her approach is warm, honest and practical. Everyone deserves understanding, dignity and the opportunity to get help.
